The mountains provide a world of entertainment in winter for skiers, snowboarders, walkers and climbers staying in a luxury chalet. Yet this playground, as beautiful as it is, can also be highly dangerous. Chamonix is no different and those up the mountain should take all the suggested equipment and a healthy respect for mother nature when leaving their luxury ski chalet in Chamonix. Even the most experienced of us can be caught out up the mountain with a sudden change in conditions. Be aware, be prepared and be safe.

Why look into renting a luxury ski chalet in Chamonix this January? Well, apart from the little to no lift queues, deserted pistes and fantastic conditions there is always the chance you could pick up a great chalet offer through Hip Chalets with last minute deals still to be found on exclusive chalets this January and even into early February.

The phrase 'best conditions for a decade' has been shouted from the rooftops by those in resort and with over 370m of snow already this year it is hard to argue with. Off piste action has been incredible with endless back country routes to explore over planes of unblemished snow during the holiday period if you're up early enough. On piste conditions could not have been any better either with piste bashers working flat out to manage the level of snow seen over the festive period, and with more snow predicted by the end of the week it would seem there is no let-up in their schedule.

As we recently reported, for those who booked an early season visit to one of our luxury ski chalets conditions were excellent with a good amount of early season snow, but things have really stepped up a gear in the last few weeks – we have now had more snow than the entire 2010/11 season. The last week has produced more than a metre, and Chamonix now has the deepest snow base in Europe with 370cm!

Conditions are incredible throughout the valley so it's a perfect time to stay in one of our  luxury chalets in Chamonix. And the Freeride World Tour (FWT) event this month (21st-29^th Jan) should see an incredible level of competition on Chamonix's unrivalled terrain and bring a real buzz to town...
