Following the addition of this exceptional new property to the Hip Chalet collection, we thought we would give you the lo-down on Cormayeur – the ‘gem of the Aosta’.

Courmayeur is a charming old Italian town located within the Aosta Valley, in northern Italy. Situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, separated from Chamonix by the Mont Blanc tunnel, Courmayeur’s stunning mountain scenery and range of summer and winter activities make it an attractive destination all year round.

The town retains an authentic charm with a car-free centre, cobbled streets and traditional buildings. The centre itself is full of stylish clothes shops, a selection of delis and bars. Furthermore, this being Italy -there is a fantastic range of top-class restaurants, both on and off the mountain representing excellent gourmet and classic cuisine.

Courmayeur benefits from 100km of its own pistes with many cruising intermediate runs. Nevertheless, there is plenty for all levels as the town offers access to the all of the other resorts in the Aosta and Chamonix valleys (via the Mont Blanc Tunnel), which have a combined total of almost 800km of pistes. There is excellent snowmaking equipment in Cormayeur when mother nature isn't being to kind, which covers most of the main runs, including the red run to the valley. This means that good coverage in early and mid-season is virtually assured.

Our luxury chalet in Courmayeur, Chalet Maria is within walking distance of the largest cable-car in the ski area.  This enables easy access to the Courmayeur ski area with the town centre just a 10-minute walk away.

Courmayeur has good transport links to Milan and Geneva airports which are both 2 hours away. The town is also good for families with a children’s playground at Dolonne as well as a nursery at Plan Checrouit for children aged up to 10 years.
